SWIDA Chooses Development Project of Year

Illinois Distributing Among Three Finalists

May 23, 2002 – At its 5th Annual Awards Luncheon, the Southwestern Illinois Development Authority (SWIDA) chose its Outstanding Development of the Year. This year’s winner was Parsons Place, Phase I, a multi-family, mixed-income development by developers McCormack Baron & Associates and the Emerson Park Development Corporation.

Among the three finalists was the Illinois Distributing Company’s new facility in Belleville, a TWM project. Illinois Distributing is the largest Anheuser Busch distributor in the Metro-East and third largest in the State of Illinois. The new facility is 165,000 square feet in size and was constructed at a cost of approximately $14 million.

TWM’s responsibilities on the project were numerous. The firm provided all surveying and civil engineering site design for the warehouse facility itself. The firm also provided those services for the entire 77-acre Eagle Pointe Business Park, which includes an additional eight building sites. TWM’s Transportation Department then provided the design of Busch Boulevard, a roadway through the project connecting Illinois Route 13 with a trumpet interchange at Illinois Route 15.

SWIDA is authorized by state statute to assist with development efforts in Madison and St. Clair Counties in Illinois, and does so through the use of bond financing, alternative financing, real estate development, eminent domain, and other economic development tools.

TWM has been involved with number of projects in previous years that have been finalists for the Authority’s annual award.
