December 2005 – Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchen, Inc. has been awarded a unique $1.8 million-dollar project with the Illinois Department of Transportation. The project is the first local roads management job that the state has outsourced to a private engineering firm, meaning that TWM transportation engineers will now be performing work previously done by IDOT’s own Local Roads staff.
The job entails local roads project management work for various projects in IDOT Region 3, which covers the mid-section of the state surrounding Peoria and reaching as far as the Missouri and Indiana borders.
TWM’s Transportation Department will perform engineering, technical, management and administrative services to bring numerous projects to completion. Work includes managing all phases of engineering projects, performing compliance reviews, and monitoring the project scope, schedule and budget. In addition, TWM will handle coordination and communication within and outside of the Local Roads department, IDOT and other stakeholders. The firm will also hold regular progress meetings and briefings, facilitate and expedite the resolution of problems, and ensure that departmental and legal obligations are fulfilled in the funding of the project.
