In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey’s second habit is “Begin with the end in mind” – using imagination to envision in your mind what you cannot yet see with your eyes.  His principle is that all things are created twice.  First as a mental creation, then secondly as a physical creation.  He specifically notes that the physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint.

Both public and private sector clients have come to depend upon TWM’s ability to envision and plan for specific, desired outcomes.  We help our clients imagine the goal at the end, and then outline the steps to achieve that goal.  Whether specific to a project – like a commercial site, light rail station, the alignment for a new road or trail, or a community park – or more strategic, as with a comprehensive master plan or revisions to a municipal code, TWM’s staff understands the value of mental creation first.
