Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchen provided civil engineering design services for a new multipurpose arena at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, Illinois. This newest addition to the 45-building, 590-acre state fairgrounds site involved the design of an indoor arena with a concrete floor and perimeter circulation space, and competitor staging area to seat 4,000+ spectators. The facility also included restrooms, lobby, concession and ticketing areas, all utility systems and connections, including water, sewer, and electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and sound system for year-round use, support facilities, warm-up/make-up rings, stalling and housing, parking, and other amenities.
