Structural Engineering Manager

Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchen, Inc., one of the largest civil engineering firms in the St. Louis area, is currently taking applications from experienced Civil Engineers with specialization in Structural Engineering for an exciting opportunity to lead our Structural Design Group at TWM. This full-time position could be based in our St. Louis, MO, Swansea, IL, or Waterloo, IL office. TWM is an established but growth-oriented consulting firm offering Civil, Structural, and Rail Engineering, Surveying, and other Geospatial services in the St. Louis metropolitan region and beyond.

We work on a wide variety of bridge and other structural engineering projects.  This management level position leads a department of professionals, and is responsible for quality assurance and quality control for Structural Engineering firm wide.  Candidates should possess good social skills with the ability and desire to market the department and its services, and the ability to develop client relationships. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to fostering teamwork, and willing to learn and nurture TWM’s culture while working to grow this practice group. He or she will possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a willingness to establish goals and achieve them.

Must be licensed as an Illinois Structural Engineer and as a Professional Engineer in Missouri.   If not licensed in Missouri, should be able to easily obtain that license through reciprocity within six months of hire. A BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering and 10+ years of experience in structural design are the minimum educational and experience requirements.

Experience should include design of plate girder and pre-stressed concrete highway bridges, large temporary and permanent soil retention structures (concrete, anchored steel sheet, cofferdams, etc.), above- and below-grade reinforced concrete tanks, and heavy foundations (piles, drilled shafts, etc).  Experience in construction and/or construction phase engineering (structural steel erection plans, demolition plans, etc.) is preferred.  Should have demonstrated ability with CAD (MicroStation preferred), spreadsheets, and general structural analysis software.
