TWM recently completed civil engineering design for Phase 1 renovations at Millennium Park in Creve Coeur, MO. Enhancements include a 10’ wide concrete pedestrian walkway, a significantly expanded playground and splash pad area—doubling the previous size—a new pavilion designed to double as a bandstand for musical events, and updated other site amenities. The project also incorporates multiple bioretention basins to support stormwater quality goals and is designed to accommodate future phases of improvements.
TWM transformed the conceptual master plan design—developed by others—into final civil design, making adjustments for ADA compliance and incorporating additional scope elements requested by the City. Our team prepared plan drawings, technical specifications, job special provisions, and cost estimates to bring the project to the bidding stage. Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) were permitted through MSD.
A unique aspect of this project was the City’s request for the contractor to include the playground and splash pad equipment and design layout as part of their bids. To support this, TWM developed performance-based specifications within our design package to streamline the bidding process and ensure design intent was maintained.
