Museum 3D Scan Data Creates Statue Replicas on Display for Reopening

Dec. 2018 – TWM’s Geospatial Services Department visited St. Louis’s Soldiers Memorial Military Museum to help them prepare for a $30 million dollar renovation last June. While most Reality Capture projects are similar in nature, the Soldiers Memorial project was special. Our team labored to find the right combination of four different types of software to transfer the data into a format a 3D printing company could use to produce miniature replicas of the statues outside the museum. These miniature statues are on display in the renovated museum and were completed in time for the museum’s grand reopening in November.

3D technology is cost-effective and useful, but only when the data is delivered in a format clients can put to work. TWM’s Geospatial Services Group loves a challenge, and seeing their hard work come to fruition when they viewed the miniature statues on display at the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum made the whole process incredibly rewarding.
