Pavement engineering services were provided by TWM to complete this project. Phase II entailed in-house design engineering for the microsurfacing of IL 159 from Troy Road to Magnolia Street in Edwardsville and Glen Carbon. The 1.92-mile section of roadway was showing signs of deterioration through transverse cracks and areas of pavement failure. Improvements included pavement patching, crack sealing, and a single-pass microsurfacing. Pavement markings and detector loops for signals were re-established. TWM also developed a Work Zone Transportation Management Plan since IL 159 is a significant route. Due to high peak hour traffic counts and only two-lane, two-way traffic, nighttime work was implemented.
