Project Description
Pervious Asphalt Parking Facility at Scott Air Force Base

LOCATION: Scott Air Force Base
CLIENT: U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers
CONSTRUCTION COST: $12,200,000
A pervious asphalt parking facility was designed by TWM for this 19,000 sq. ft. parking facility supporting the 35,000 sq. ft. Security Forces Building at Scott Air Force Base. We also provided engineering and land surveying services.
BIGGEST CHALLENGE WE OVERCAME:
The nearby runway posed a significant challenge due to the potential of an open water detention system attracting birds, which could negatively impact safe operations. TWM mitigated those concerns through our use of pervious asphalt for the parking facility. This was one of the first applications of pervious pavement at the base. The parking facility features an underground stormwater detention using infiltration into the existing soil sub-grade and underground collection pipes.
