The reconstruction of Huntwood Road improved a heavily traveled east-west collector from Sullivan Drive to IL Route 159 within the Village of Swansea, Illinois, while carefully considering the safety of students attending two schools within the project limits. The previous oil & chip surface was replaced with a 3,850-foot long, 36-foot wide urban section of PCC pavement flanked by curb and gutter with center turn lane, storm sewer system, sidewalks on both sides, and upgrades to signal lights and school crossings. TWM also coordinated public involvement for the client, as well as utility relocation, land acquisition and construction observation.
