TRANSPORTATION & TRAFFIC

When it comes to designing a transportation system involving traffic, streets, and highways, safety and efficiency are undeniably among the top priorities. But in today’s economy, the solutions to transportation challenges also need to be affordable. TWM focuses on helping our clients find the best alignment between effectiveness, efficiency, and economy. We strive for solutions that not only work, but also work “smart” and are within budget.

WHAT WE DO

TWM has a well-rounded team providing a full range of design and construction observation services, bringing our clients established relationships with reviewing agencies such as the DOT, DNR / NRC, and USACE. We have designed dozens of miles of state highways and local roadways in the past five years. We have completed traffic studies, held public meetings, negotiated purchase of land, and acquired necessary permits. TWM has designed several roundabouts, thousands of curb ramps, and the first diverging diamond interchange in IL.

Our expertise ranges from designing new alignments, reconstruction, and widening projects on interstates, rural and urban highways, local streets and bridges, bike trails and sidewalks, multi-modal enhancements, to simply assisting municipalities in planning their annual street maintenance programs. Cognizant that our clients always have budgets to meet, we strive for solutions that not only work, but also work smart.

Traffic & Safety

Traffic engineering is a pivotal piece of the puzzle when it comes to supporting new businesses and neighborhoods with appropriate transportation infrastructure to ensure communities are livable and meet all the stakeholders’ needs.

Roadway Design

Our roadway expertise involves designing hundreds of urban and rural miles of roadways including intersection design and realignment, roadway widening and rehabilitation, ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, right-of-way design, and streetscape design.

Roadway Design

Roadway Bridges

We assist with all phases of a bridge project including project scoping, conceptual planning with alternatives, preliminary design, hydraulics, and bridge layout to meet site constraints, final design and plans, specifications, and estimates.

Trail & Pedestrian Bridges

TWM's engineers have unique expertise in pedestrian bridges and shared-use structures. Many engineers specify a pre-fabricated pedestrian truss that is designed by others, but we have designed custom signature pedestrian bridges for clients.

Bike/Shared-Use Paths

TWM is considered one of the top pedestrian and bikeway trail planning and design firms serving southern Illinois and Missouri. Whether it's for work or play, our trails are designed with aesthetics, functionality, and cost-effectiveness in mind.

Pavement Management

Implementing a pavement management system can help clients more efficiently and effectively manage their roadways. We have successfully aided government clients using tools that evaluate and rank pavement in a systematic way to accurately forecast short- and long-term budgets.
